Wendell Gilley 1904-1983 Ruffed Grouse Sculpture

Wendell Gilley (American, 1904-1983), carved and painted wood sculpture depicting two crested Ruffed Grouse perched on a natural burl wood base. The birds are finely hand-carved and painted with naturalistic feather decoration, mounted with metal legs, and signed "Gilley" and dated 1966 on the wood base.

Dimensions: 11.5 X 14.5 X 9 in.

Condition: Good to fair overall vintage condition with typical age-related surface wear and toning. Both birds exhibit losses to the feet, including bent mounting wires and paint loss to the feet, consistent with age and display. The wood base exhibits natural wear, consistent with age and display.
