Western Asiatic Luristan Dagger

Late 2nd millennium BC. A bronze dagger with midrib, round-section grip with flared lower end, bell-shaped pommel; the grip, guard and pommel with cells for organic insets. See Godard, F. The Art of Iran, London, 1965, item 90 for type. 232 grams, 28.5cm (11 1/4"). From an important private London collection; formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
