This Ealing comedy was the directorial debut of Alexander Mackendrick. The film stars Basil Radford, Bruce Seton, Joan Greenwood and Gordon Jackson. The film's screenplay was written by Compton MacKenzie, who also wrote the novel of the same name. The story is based on true events, about Scottish islanders who have run out of whisky, and who find a shipwreck laden with a huge amount of whisky ! The studio was working at full pace, having already released Passport to Pimlico earlier in the same year.
Excellent condition, colours remaining very bright, very minor restoration to the centre fold.
