An original color lithograph on watermarked Arches paper by Cuban artist Wilfredo Lam. It is hand signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. Wifredo Lam studied in Spain under the same teacher as Salvador Dali and became a friend of Picasso after moving to Paris in 1938. After returning to Havana in 1941, Lam began producing paintings that were dominated by hybridized human-animal-vegetal figure. this lithograph is indicative of Lam’s singular vision, which combined symbols from his cultural background and African spiritual practices such as Santería, with Cubist and Surrealist approaches to form.
