Wifredo Lam (Cuban, 1902-1982) attributed: Bird Carrying Small Figures, pen and ink on paper, signed WiLam and dated 1970 upper right, unframed. The internationally renowned Cuban painter, Wifredo Lam, was a precursor of a cross-cultural style of painting, infusing Western modernism with African and Caribbean symbolism. His peripatetic life brought him into contact with all the avant-garde movements of his times including cubism, surrealism, and CoBrA.
