[ translate ]

Facing trial for Nazi war crimes, Hitler's former Reich Minister of the Interior personally arranges his defense at Nuremberg in October 1945

Three ALSs in German by Wilhelm Frick, former Reich Minister of the Interior and Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia, to the General Secretary of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg, all concerning his defense.

The first, dated October 20, 1945, cites Article 2(d) of the Indictment's procedural rules and requests that Rechtsanwalt Gustaf von Scanzoni of Munich be appointed as his defense counsel, signed "Dr. Wilhelm Frick."

The second, dated October 22, 1945, follows up two days later: should von Scanzoni be unable to take the case, Frick asks that Dr. J.R. Viereck of Berlin be retained in his place, signed "Frick."

The third, dated October 30, 1945, addressed to Major Neave at the General Secretary's office, requests a conversation regarding his defense, signed "Frick."

In overall fine condition, with two backed by lightweight cardstock. Accompanied by contemporary English translations for the first two letters.

As Reich Minister of the Interior from 1933 to 1943, Frick co-authored the Nuremberg Laws stripping German Jews of citizenship and later administered Bohemia and Moravia as Reich Protector, where deportations to Auschwitz and other camps continued under his authority. He was convicted at Nuremberg on all four counts, including war crimes and crimes against humanity, and hanged on October 16, 1946.
