A figure of a beggar woman attributed to Wilhelm Krüger

Carved wood and ivory figure on a separately worked plinth. A detailed and finely carved figure of an old beggar woman in torn clothing, leaning on a walking stick and holding a coin in her hand. Similar ivory figures were produced as of 1711 by Wilhelm Krüger in the "Dresdener Kunstkammer", designed after etchings by Jacques Callot like the present work, which can today be viewed in the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden.
The plinth cracked, several hairline cracks throughout. Minor yellowing. Mounted on a wooden socle. Height 13.5 cm (without socle).
