Willem Jacob Rozendaal (1899 - 1971) - Large optical Art Deco serica vase model 'Argus' • red colored • 1931

Very beautiful and rare large Art Deco serica vase model 'Argus', designed by Willem Jacob Rozendaal (1899-1971) for the Kristalunie Maastricht. This vase is a design from 1931. The vase has the necessary light traces of wear. This doesn’t affect the decorative value. Only glassware by Willem J. Rozendaal from 1928 and 1929 is signed, later productions are no longer signed. Red was only used for the Serica by WJR in 1931 and that may be the reason that this colour is not mentioned in the price list of 1931/32. (Thanks to the MAG museum in Ruurlo for the information) . This rare vase is in the collection of the National Glass Museum in Leerdam. The vase is also mentioned on page 58 of the Kristalunie Maastricht book by A. van der Kley - Blekxtoon.
