Willem Van Hooff
Core Vessel Oval
Vase
Hand-molded, artist’s glaze, double-fired
One-of-a-kind piece
H46 L40 cm
Water-resistant
An oval variation of the Core Vessel series, this vase expands its volume in width and features a more horizontal base, almost like that of a pebble. The hand-crafted contour retains slight irregularities that play with the light on the glazed surface. The series’ underlying concept remains clear: a solid, compact mass whose opening appears to be carved out of the material. As a one-of-a-kind piece, it fits within the realm of contemporary ceramics that focuses on the visual weight of forms, straddling the line between a utilitarian object and a small sculpture.
