Description: A photograph of Yosemite from Glacier Point. The mountain range is at the very bottom of the photograph with the sky and a reaching tree branch filling the majority of the photo. It’s a stunning landscape photograph of a historic iconic site! On thick, lightly textured paper.
William Edward Dassonville (1879-1957) was a California photographer primarily known for his landscapes. He was an associate of Ansel Adams and worked with William Keith, George Stirling, Maynard Dixon, and John Miur. Born in Sacramento, CA, he acted as secretary of the California Camera Club and contributed to Camera Craft. He also invented a velvety surfaced printing paper that he later manufactured commercially (REF: Getty). His chemistry was heralded by Ansel Adams and Imogen Cunningham, and he exhibited alongside Alfred Stieglitz, Clarence White, and Gertrude Kasebier (REF: icp org).
Some of the prints in this estate have annotations indicating they are platinum or silver prints; however, this print is not annotated.
Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Circa: early 20th century.
Dimensions: paper 9.875x7.625 inches.
Condition: Light toning but no creases, waves, foxing, tears, etc in paper. In protective plastic folder.
Provenance: Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children. In addition to most of the works being estate stamped we have identified several prints additionally carrying the Donald P. Dassonville signed authentication stamp.
