William Fargo Document Signed
Businessman (1818–1881) who co-founded the famous express firm Wells, Fargo & Co., served as president of American Express, and later directed the New York Central and Northern Pacific Railways. Partly-printed DS, signed “Wm. G. Fargo,” one page, 11.75 x 8.75, June 22, 1869. Stock certificate for five shares in the American Merchants Union Express Company issued to E. B. Pierce, signed at the conclusion by Fargo as president of the company. Handsomely double-matted and framed with a portrait (bearing a facsimile signature) to an overall size of 24.5 x 16. In fine condition.
