Pair of large candlesticks made in London, with five flames in neoclassical style, in sterling silver with 925/1000 fineness. The candelabra are characterized by Corinthian-style capitals, with acanthus leaf decoration, while the bobeches are podded, as are the square-shaped bases, and by fluted columns. Candlesticks can also be used as candlesticks. The stanchions have been weighted to make them more stable.
William Gibson (died 1913) and John Lawrence Langman (1846 - 1928) founded the Goldsmith and Silversmiths Co in 1880, trading at 112 Regent Street, London. In 1952 it was purchased by Garrard & Co Ltd.
