Wise, in part: "I exchange congratulations with you over the result throughout the country. Pursuant to your request, I send you several autographs." In very good to fine condition, with multiple intersecting folds. The Democratic Party lost control over both houses of Congress in the 1894 elections, losing over one hundred seats in the House of Representative and four seats in the Senate. Here, McKinley exchanges hearty congratulations with John Sergeant Wise, a fellow Republican who had represented Virginia in the House in the mid-1880s.
