William Partridge Burpee Fall Colors Pastel Painting

This impressionist-style painting in pastels is by William Partridge Burpee (American, 1846-1940). It features fall foliage reflecting on water. Handwritten on the backing of the frame are two notes. One reads, "Done by Will Burpee, cousin to Elmer B. Shaw, maternal grandfather of Arthur O. Long." The second reads, "Probably painted near 1940 when he was over 90."
