Signed and inscribed "W.R. Miller Pinx. The Woodland Path" lower left with a possible date below the signature, identified and dated to "...1884" on a label from Godel & Co. Fine Art, New York, affixed to the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 42 x 32 in. (106.7 x 81.3 cm), in a period frame.
Condition: Lined, retouch, fine craquelure.
N.B. Although the label provides the date of 1884 for this painting, it has been suggested that it likely dates c. 1860.

Framed dimensions are 53 1/2 x 44 x 4 inches.
The painting has been professionally restored. There is a 5-inch vertical repaired tear at the center left edge and a second area of retouch consisting of a 3-inch horizontal area in the center of the sky. Other scattered areas of inpaint in the sky and along the edges.
