William Senior, Scottish b.1927 - Abstract Still Life, c.1949; watercolour on paper, signed lower right 'Senior', 22 x 32.5 cm (ARR) Provenance: with Stephen Somerville Ltd, London (according to the label attached to the reverse of the frame) Note: Senior was part of the New Scottish Group of artist, formed by John Duncan Fergusson following his return to Glasgow from France in 1939. Other members included William Crosbie, and Tom MacDonald and Bet Low, with whom Senior created a more political splinter group, known as the Clyde Group. A work by the artist is held in the collection of Perth and Kinross Council.
