William and Mary Pine Blanket Chest with Two Drawers

circa 1730

retains its original turned feet and boot jack rear feet. Chest has been cut in half and reassembled
Height 40 in. by Width 38 in by Depth 19 in.

Condition Report:
Chest has been refinished but now has an old dark stain/color. William Mary etched brass replaced. Once fitted with likely 19th century wooden knobs. Chips to the front base molding on proper left and proper right side. 2 by 1 inch patch to lift top at location of a knot. Possibly done originally in its construction. Retains its original cleats. Original gimmal hinges set in back board are replaced with a modern variant. Wrought iron staple in lid is original and lock appears to be original. Retains original feet. The chest at some point was expertly cut in half but and then reassembled. It appears to retain all of its original double beaded drawer surround moldings.
