A William and Mary walnut and floral marquetry tall case clock

The 12 1/2in square brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, having subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture to the matte center, inscribed Chr Gould Londini Fecit, the twin train movement with four ringed pillars striking on a bell.
height 84 1/2in (215cm); width 19in (48.5cm); depth 10in (25.5cm)
Provenance: Property from a Northern California Estate.

Footnote: Christopher Gould was a renowned maker who was admitted to the Clockmakers Company as a Free Brother in 1682. He is best known for intricate marquetry inlaid cases. Related marquetry cases of Gould clocks are illustrated p. G. Dawson, C.B. Drover, D. W. Parkes, Early English Clocks, pp. 296-297, pl., 418-420.
Condition Report: The case in overall good condition. Slight warp to trunk door. General marks, nicks, scratches and wear. Some slight areas of movement of marquetry to plinth. Horizontal cracks to side of plinth. Scattered small areas of restoration. The dial with some areas of loss of silvering to chapter ring. The hands probably replaced. The movement currently maintaining power and striking correctly. Seatboard with one hole to either end. With no holes matching to the cheeks in the trunk, suggesting the dial and movement are associated to the case. Two weights, pendulum, case key and crank key. Working condition not guaranteed.
