Well before 1551, the building bearing No. 5 on rue de la Huchette was the meeting place of the Rosicrucians and the Templars and in 1772 it was transformed into a secret Freemasonic lodge.
Called “Caveau de la Terror”, then “Théâtre de la chanson”, Les Frères Jacques, Ferré, Brassens and the first sketches by Roger Pierre and Jean Marc Thibault were the first successes of 5, rue de la Huchette.
Every evening since 1946 a jazz orchestra for the pleasure of listening or dancing, in the pure tradition of the Cotton club, Savoy era. . .
The Caveau de la Huchette, located in the Latin Quarter, welcomes the great names of jazz, including the great clarinetist Maxime Saury.
Silver print made in 2001 on baryta paper with photographer's signature (white border under the image) , artist's and shooter's stamps on the reverse. Dated and captioned by Willy Ronis
