The fold-out map of Russia is present. The hand-colored fold-out map of Russia is specially created by Harrison, Brooklyn, NY. First American Edition. [First British edition appeared in the same year]

Hard boards, original leather [creases, aging and repairs]; the boards are attached, c. 5.1/2" x 9"; the front endpaper is missing, some foxing and soiling, very good condition. The map is 9.1/2" x 11.1/2" printed on heavy stock parchment-like paper, some creases and a few old repairs [see photos]; the map is detached.

The book described diplomatic and military history of the Napoleonic Wars and the development of the situation in Europe to the year when the book was published, 1817. The map shows Russian territorial gains after the war. Being witness and participant in the events, General Wilson provides many details and original documents.

General Sir Robert Thomas Wilson was a British general and politician who served in Flanders, Egypt, Iberian Peninsula, Prussia, and was seconded to the Imperial Russian Army in 1812. He sat as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Southwark from 1818 to 1831. He served as the Governor of Gibraltar from 1842 until his death in 1849.
