**Winchester-Underwood "AW" Code U.S. M1 Carbine

World War II
.30 Carbine. 18" barrel length. SN: 6467385. Parkerized metal finish overall set in a low-wood Walnut semi-pistol grip stock. Short stroke piston driven semi-automatic rifle with rotating bolt and fed by detachable box magazines. Receiver shows an UNDERWOOD marking that has been crossed out with AW code applied below the serial number indicating it was started by Underwood but completed by Winchester. Barrel shows a Winchester monogram proof marking without date mark. W initial struck into the bolt carrier, bolt, trigger housing, and hammer. Stock is without cartouches or visible inspection marking. Mounts a bayonet lug and late pattern sights, and comes with an SW marked magazine.

Arms, Armor & Militaria Good. Bore is Bright with strong rifling. Parkerized finish is thinning on the receiver and bayonet lug with some light scratches to the barrel. Some cycling wear to the internals. Stock exhibits some rounding at the edges suggesting refinish with few light handling mars and some scuffs on the edges of the buttplate.
