Wizards President Original Production Cel (Ralph Bakshi, 1977)....
Wizards President Original Production Cel (Ralph Bakshi, 1977). "Dammit, Avatar! If there's any danger maybe we should, maybe we should arm our states!" After the Avatar explains in detail about his secret mission, The President, voiced by Jim Connell (1945 – 2021), declares that if there is imminent danger then they should arm themselves in this original hand-painted production cel. Written, directed, and produced by Bakshi, Wizards was his first foray into fantasy animation after earlier urban-themed films like Fritz the Cat and Heavy Traffic. Theatrically released on 2/9/1977, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where fairies, elves, and dwarves have reclaimed a ravaged landscape, the story follows the battle between twin wizards: the kindhearted Avatar and the malevolent Blackwolf. With the help of the elf warrior Weehawk, the fairy Elinore, and a reformed assassin named Peace, Avatar sets out to stop Blackwolf's technologically fueled war. President's half cel figure, measuring approximately 6" x 9.75", and can be seen at the 12:27 timestamp of the animated film. The overall condition is Good to Very Good with cel adhered to paper, some amount of faded linework, and minor handling wear and edge wear.
