The stake. Signed and dated Kraków 1883 lower right. The woman on the stake is presumably Katarzyna Weiglowa (circa 1460 – 1539), a Roman Catholic woman from the Kingdom of Poland who converted to Judaism. She was burned at the stake in Kraków under the charge of apostasy when she refused to call Jesus Christ the Son of God.
