Wonder Woman #1 (DC, 1942) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white pages. This remarkable book bears a CVA sticker for superior presentation for the assigned grade and it shows, with colors as vibrant and pretty as Diana Prince herself. The incredible eye appeal is a remarkable feat for a major key already in such high-grade. Only six CGC-graded Universal copies to date are higher-graded than this stunning specimen, and the CVA sticker places this firmly among the best-looking copies of all time. Within months of her first appearance in All Star Comics #8, Wonder Woman gained not just one, but two titles of her own! Shortly after the debut of Sensation Comics, Wonder Woman's self-titled series began here, with the almighty Amazonian joining the likes of DC favorites Batman and Superman in headlining multiple titles. This issue retells Wonder Woman's origin story and contains the first appearance of Ares, who has appeared in countless comics and multiple films. H. G. Peter provides the iconic cover and art, with story by fellow Wonder Woman co-creator William Moulton Marston. Although Peter and Marston had expansive careers in multiple fields, both creators are forever associated primarily with Wonder Woman. Currently ranked #19 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. Overstreet 2023 VF 8.0 value = $94,000. CGC census 3/24: 10 in 8.0, 6 higher.
