Wonderful Egyptian bronze figure of seated Harpokrates
A wonderful Egyptian bronze figure of a seated Harpokrates, 25th - 26th Dynasty, c. 746 - 525 BC, solid cast, the young god is depicted nude, wearing characteristic side-lock of youth with uraeus, a necklace with central pendant and chest band, his right finger held to his lips. In very soft and naturalistic style. H: 4 2/3 in (11.9cm). Nicely detailed with attractive patination. Custom antique wood base. Ex Pilar Muniz de Camahort, acquired in Cairo from R.M. Nahman in the 1950's; thence descent. Pilar Muniz de Camahort was married to Ricardo Muniz y Verdugo, Minister Counselor in the Spanish Embassy to King Farouk and later President Nasser.
