Wonderful Inca Textile Child's Poncho

Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A wonderful poncho composed of tightly woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of coffee and cream. Likely made for a child based on the size, the rectangular poncho bears a quartet of cream-hued stripes that stream across the brown body. The peripheries are lined with loose fringe strands that make for an attractive presentation, and there is a central slit for pulling over the head. Mounted atop a museum-quality display fabric. Condition Report: Minor loosening to some interior fibers, and light staining to some areas, and minor creasing, otherwise intact and very good. Great traces of original coloration throughout.
