Wooden Statue of Guan Gong, Qing Dynasty
A Chinese wooden statue of Guan Gong from the Qing dynasty. Guan Gong is depicted seated upon a throne with two dragon head arm rests and guardian lion feet. A taotie mask stretches across the front of the foot rest. He is dressed in armor carved with gilt dragons and his red face has a fierce expression. The base is carved with a floral border.
Dimensions: 16 3/4 inches tall X 8 inches wide; 42.5 cm tall X 20.3 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: It is in overall good condition with some paint wear and chipping. The right hand appears to have formerly held a weapon.
