. Wooden sarcophagus complete with lid and base (or tank) representing the God Horus.Ancient Egypt, Saite period (8th-6th century BC). . Cm 55,00. The overall condition is excellent and we find polychrome traces on the lid and on the inner head of the mummy, which wears a kind of painted hood modelled with bitumen or pitch. The intact body of the mummy is wrapped in very fine cotton strips with a herringbone weave.X-rays show the intact skeleton of the hawk positioned with its wings folded, a characteristic pose of human mummifications. According to some studies, the small fracture on the right wing may have led the animal to weakening and later death.Accompanying the object we have two original documents from La Galerie Carrefour, a gallery specializing in archaeology and primitive arts, masterfully run by the great expert and public figure Pierre Vérité.La Galerie Carrefour used to sell to illustrious figures such as Pablo Picasso, and the documents testify to careful studies of the object signed by Vérité himself in Paris during February 1988.Lot accompanied by Certificate of Free Export issued by the Direction Générale Des Patrimoinesm, France.
