Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 19, March 16, 1917. President Wilson appoints George C. Hamner as "Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, for a probationary period of two years." Signed at the conclusion by Woodrow Wilson, and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels. Blue Navy Department seal affixed to lower vignette remains partially intact. In very good to fine condition, with light overall wrinkling and some damage to the blue wafer seal. Presidentially signed appointments for the Marine Corps are seldom encountered.
