Woolly Mammoth Tusk Mammuthus primigenius Pleistocene Alaska, USA Naturally sculptural, due to an artistic and prominent curvature, this rather sizable Mammoth Tusk boasts incredible coloration and outstanding form. The nice example, with a solid cut base, clearly represents a juvenile Woolly Mammoth and is one excellent tusk from Alaska dating to the Ice Age. Measuring 28 inches (72 cm) on the curve, the fossil comes elegantly presented on a custom black metal armature. The smooth polished fossil has several cracks and elongated cavities, as expected, and visible "fill" near the tip. The presence of the mineral Vivianite, during the fossilization process, has resulted in a beautiful greenish color over much of the otherwise gold, cream, and brown-hued offering. A brindle pattern with dark streaks adds further visual contrast to the already fabulous tusk, which is an ideal size working both as a specimen sample and a decorative display specimen. Overall Measurements: 22.44 x 16.14 x 8.98 inches (57.00 x 41.00 x 22.80 cm) Disclaimer: The sale or offer to sell, trade, barter, purchase, and transport of fossilized ivory, including that from Mammoths, is currently banned or restricted in nine US states. If you are a resident of New York, New Jersey, Illinois, New Hampshire, California, Nevada, Hawaii, Vermont, or the District of Columbia, you may not bid on a lot with fossilized ivory, including that from Mammoths. If you attempt to bid, your bid shall be canceled, and there shall be no sale. Legislation is constantly subject to change, and it is possible that other states may be added to the list at any time based on the passage of laws. Further, depending on the specific regulations, there might be restrictions or prohibitions on buying, selling, owning, transporting, and shipping ivory, including material from ancient animals such as Mammoths.
