World War II USMC 6th Marine Division Forest Green Wool Service Uniform Jacket
A World War II United States Marine Corps forest green wool service blouse, identified by its construction as an M1941 pattern. The jacket features a four-button front closure with blackened metal buttons embossed with the USMC eagle, globe, and anchor (EGA) device. The design includes two pleated breast pockets with button-down flaps and two large bellows-style waist pockets. The left shoulder displays a circular embroidered theater-made unit patch featuring a red border and blue center. The yellow embroidery reads MICRONESIA, ORIENT, and MELANESIA around the perimeter, separated by stars, with a central US logo overlaid with a vertical dagger. Each sleeve bears red on forest green wool chevrons for the rank of Private First Class. A yellow silk-embroidered Honorable Discharge lapel patch, known as the Ruptured Duck, is sewn above the right breast pocket. The interior of the sleeves is lined with a cream-colored fabric. The lining of one sleeve contains a printed green ink stamp that is partially legible; the characters USMC are visible above a blurred name and a date that appears to be 1943-44. A separate stamp displays a large capital M, indicating size. Pickup is Monday, Nov. 9, from 11 am to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH.
