10 x 24 x 16 inches. A large rectangular laundry or gathering basket constructed from hand-woven wood splints. The form features rounded corners and integrated openwork hand-hold handles located at the shorter ends. The body is comprised of horizontal splints woven around wide vertical ribs. The top rim is reinforced with a double-banded wood wrap secured by small metal nails. The base is structurally reinforced with four longitudinal wooden runners featuring pointed ends, each fastened with a series of small nails. The wood across the entire piece exhibits a darkened, aged patina. On the underside of the base, a central wooden splint bears a handwritten inscription in black ink consisting of the letters K, S, and A arranged in a vertical column, followed by the numerals 8 and 1. The initials do not spell a recognized manufacturer name.
