The Ford (Model T) illustrated here plays a role in Morris' novel “The Home Place” from 1948 in which the writer and photographer describes a visit by the first-person narrator to Lone Tree in Nebraska during the Great Depression in the USA. In this most famous of his “Photo-Text” books, Morris gives equal weight to the written word and the self-composed, full-page image - unusual for that time.
