Wulfenite Glove Mine, Glove Mine Group, Cottonwood Canyon, Tyndall District, Santa Rita Mts., Santa Cruz Co., Arizona, USA "A wonderful cluster of caramel colored curved tabular crystals up to about 1.5 inches. One of the best specimens that has survived." - Rock H. Currier "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure dome decree: Where Alph, the sacred river ran, through caverns measureless to Man, down to a sunless sea." - Coleridge Alph may have had more room to play with, but you can bet the walls weren't lined with Wulfenite blades like the ones found in the Glove Mine caverns. There were several "finds", but the one that gets Wulfenite collectors collective pulse racing, was the one where the walls were covered by crystals, displaying a thicker habit along with a golden orange tint, one that later finds never had. This 7+ inch plate is liberally covered with those golden blades. As Currier noted: "one of the best that has survived." Careless handling and curatorial neglect have caused many specimens that were contemporary to be 'less than optimal' today. Be nice to it. Give it the respect it deserves - let it rest on its custom acrylic base. Overall Measurements: 7.1 x 4.7 x 3.9 inches (18.0 x 12.0 x 10.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: RHC #5211, acquired 1987 [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
