Wulfenite Mammoth-St Anthony Mine, St. Anthony Deposit, Tiger, Mammoth District, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA "A cluster of shiny orange square crystals on a matrix coated with a little micro mimetite. From Lois Leonardi as part payment for the appraisal of Modesto Leonardi's collection." - Rock H. Currier During the period of active mining at the Mammoth Mine, some 6,000,000 pounds of Wulfenite went through the crushers. That's 3,000 tons of Wulfenite specimens ... ground to dust. Once in a while, a miner, or two, saved a specimen from this fate because it was pretty, shiny, and bright orange. This is one of those few survivors. One wonders just what some of the 'losers' looked like. Another: "coulda, shoulda, woulda" story. Nice piece. Too bad about the rest but at least this one was saved. There is a custom acrylic base for this Tiger treasure. Overall Measurements: 3.5 x 3.1 x 2.0 inches (9.0 x 8.0 x 5.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Given by Lois Leonardi, Ex Modesto Leonardi Collection [RHC #6922, acquired June 1, 2005] [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
