Wulfenite Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia "Thin square yellow orange wulfenites to about an inch on matrix. Repaired. Bought from Charles Key" - Rock H. Currier Things as heavy, brittle and just plain rare, as decent Tsumeb Wulfenite's are, should get some kind of medal for simply making it out of the mine, much less traveling thousands of miles and not being ravaged by the prurient fingers of sadistic Customs Agents and careless idiots. Not all make it unscathed, but this one was considered fine enough to be represented by famed stealth dealer, gourmand and raconteur: Charles Key. A name guaranteed to induce prolonged genuflections from savvy collectors and curators alike. Potent Ju-Ju!! Sort of like a Royal Warrant in jolly old England. Actually esthetic Wulfenite specimens from Tsumeb are not all that common. Most suffer from: color, luster, or size problems. Not this one. And Charlie should know... his name and Tsumeb are intertwined in the annals of mineralogical lore. And although Rock visited Tsumeb many times, the fact that he bought this from Charlie says volumes about just how exceptional this specimen is. Additionally it has a custom acrylic stand. Overall Measurements: 2.6 x 2.0 x 1.6 inches (6.6 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought from Charles Key collection [RHC #1309, acquired 1969] MinID F68-9JA [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
