Highly important map of the Southeast and Gulf Coast of North America, from the Rio Escondido, from Cornelis Wytfliet’s Descriptionis Ptolemaicae Augmentum, the first atlas to focus on the mapping of the New World. One of only three 16th century printed maps of this region. Most of the information is derived from the Spanish explorations of Hernando de Soto, Cabeza de Vaca, and Moscoso.
