In this lot we are auctioning a beautiful complete piece of Sericho, a pallasite (rock metal) type meteorite, found for the first time in Kenya in 2016. It is a good-sized meteorite in which we can see some olivines on the surface.

"Pallasites" are very rare meteorites in which olivines are mixed in a metallic matrix. They come from the mantle of large asteroids, and represent only about 2% of known meteorites.

This pallasite was initially called Habaswein, the neighboring city of the first fragments found, although finally the meteorite was officially called Sericho, the area of Kenya where the impact took place.
