Frame measures: 49 x 61 cm. BIOGRAPHY OF XAVIER VIÑOLAS (Bonmatí, 1915 - Olot 2002) Xavier Viñolas Pujol was a vocational painter who never stopped painting. He trained at the Olot School of Fine Arts under the mastery of Iu Pacual and Melcior Domenge and, later, at the Landscape School with teachers such as Xavier Nogués, Pedro Créixams and Francesc Labarta, among others; He was combining his studies with work in the workshop of saints El Arte Cristiano. With the outbreak of the Civil War he was sent to the front and then to do military service in Melilla. From 1942 he returned to civilian life and that same year he had his first solo exhibition at the Sala Armengol in Olot. From that precise moment, his work can be seen continuously in Olot and also in other cities such as Barcelona, Granollers or Figueres. In 1968 Xavier Viñolas became a professor at the School of Fine Arts in Olot, when Pedro Gussinyé retired. He combines teaching with his pictorial work until 1987, when he began to dedicate himself exclusively to painting.
