Y A CONTINENTAL EBONISED WALNUT WALL MIRRORPROBABLY FLEMISH, 18TH CENTURY74cm high, 64cm widePlease note: The frame of this mirror is ebonised walnut and not solid ebony as printed in the catalogue. Condition Report: Please note: On closer inspection the frame is ebonised walnut and not solid ebony as printed in the catalogue. On close inspection the old wear to the surface reveals the lighter coloured walnut beneath (see images) The ebonised surface is old and likely original and has not noticeably been refreshed or later applied. Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits and various small losses including old losses from the outer edges of the frame. (see images) Some old repairs including sections of ebonised veneer to the outside edge of the frame. Evidence of old worm (see images) There are a small number of worm holes visible from the front of the frame. The losses reveal there the front of the frame is formed of mouldings and veneered ebonised walnut into pine. The main rear panels to the mirror plate have some age but are later associated and there are modern strips of modern wood/ plywood to help secure the panels. The mirror plate appears to have some age (there are some very small black coloured scratches) but is later associated to the frame.
