Y A GEORGE II MINIATURE SHAGREEN COVERED AND METAL MOUNTED KNIFE BOXMID 18TH CENTURYThe rectangular section body with sloped, hinged cover and engraved lockplate, the green velvet lined fitted interior with four knives cast with beaded and faceted 'cannon barrel end' grips, and four conforming forksthe box 20cm high, 9cm wide, 4cm deep overallCondition Report: Some of the knives, interestingly, bear the stamp 'spoon'. The forks are two-pronged.The shagreen is a little worn and scuffs, , and bears traces of a clear lacquer.The box has horizontal splits surrounding the lockplate and one to the rear.Repair to corner of the cover, with some adhesive residue present.The velvet interior is quite faded, and slight fraying to silver thread. Eight utensils present, four compartments of the fitted interior vacant.Key present.The knives - 16cm in lengthThe forks - 12.cm in lengthCondition Report Disclaimer
