Y A GEORGE III MAHOGANY AND SATINWOOD SIDE CABINETIN THE MANNER OF THOMAS SHERATON, CIRCA 1790Incorporating 'quadrant' corners and wire trellis panelled doors94cm high, 131cm wide, 40.2cm deepProvenance: Private collection CheshireA pair of cabinets of this exact form were sold Property of a Gentleman, Christies, Important English Furniture, 27th November 2003, Lot 112 (£35,850).Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and usesome old chips and splits. Some additional old dark marks and scratches to the top (see images) The wire-work panels to the doors are generally in tidy condition with some fairly minimal undulation. The pleated fabric behind is neat and clean and likely relatively recently replaced. Old evidence of fabric being pinned to the reverse of the door panels (as often seen for items of this type and period) (see images) Some natural fading overall and to a slightly higher degree to the top due to its position and cleaning. Lock and escutcheon appear original. Lacking key. The door closes and stays closed currently. May be possible to locate a key to operate the lock if required Original fixed single shelf to the interior. Rear panels original.
