Y A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS INLAID TABLE CABINET ATTRIBUTED TO LOUIS CONSTANTIN LE GAIGNEUR, CIRCA 1820 The front with decoration of squirrel eating a nut, within an arrangement of short drawers38cm high, 40.5cm wide, 21.5cm deepThe French emigré craftsman Louis Constantin Le Gaigneur is recorded as having a 'bhul' revival manufactory specialising in brass inlaid and mounted furniture at workshops in London at 4 Homer Street and 19 Queen Street (now Harrowby Street), Edgware Road. Along with makers such as Banting, France & Co, and Gillows he catered to the rising desire for Boulle revival furniture among the nobility and royal collectors of the early 19th century.Condition Report: Wear from age and use- some shrinkage cracks notably to the top and to sides, old restoration and infill including to upper left star, left margin of door by lock, small areas of brass loss including to right hand section of upper floral spray- some brass discolourationPlease refer to additional images for visual references to condition which forms part of this condition report.Condition Report Disclaimer
