Y A black lacquered papier-Mache teapoy, circa 1860, in the manner of Jennens & Bettridge, with painted, parcel gilt decoration and mother-of-pearl inlay, the lid enclosing an arrangement of cannisters and apertures for mixing bowls, 80cm high, 45cm wide, 40cm deep
Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use,
Old splits and cracks, some lifting to the lacquer surfaces,
There are old chips, losses, some elements are present but some are missing
The lacquer surfaces with craquelure, there has been later touching up
There is are elements of lifting and old joints opening, the teapoy top is loose and detached from the mount of the base,
Missing the cut-glass mixing bowls - the shaped surrounds are present
Overall this will require some restoration prior to use in a domestic setting
