Y AN ITALIAN WALNUT, OLIVEWOOD, CROSSBANDED AND MARQUETRY BUREAU CABINET MID 18TH CENTURY The ivory inlaid doors opening to a shelved interior, above the fall opening to an arrangement of drawers, pigeon holes and shelves191cm high, 118cm wide, 63cm deep Condition Report: Cabinet with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions consistent with age and use. Various old splits, chips and losses. Various old repairs. Some warping to timbers in places. Various old veneer repairs. Section of moulding to front of cornice is lacking. Evidence of old worm in areas throughout. Dark wax has been used to help disguise this in places. Plugged holes and glued splits to door adjacent to three of the hinges. These hinges are likely old replacements. One door with an old glue and filler repair to split down the centre of it - this has been neatly executed. No keys present. Handles and escutcheons are later replacements. The lock and hinges to the fall are later replacements. There are veneer repairs adjacent to the hinges where previous ones sat. Some old ink stains to the interior of the fall section and to the interior of the interior drawers.There are two hidden shelves behind the pigeon hole section of the interior. One of these shelves is lacking its leather pull. Feet are later replacements. Some wear and knocks to handles. One backboard to the lower section is an old replacement.
