Note: Acquired by the current owner from Browns Gallery, Tain, Ross-shire. This gallery has been a long term exhibitor of John Bellany paintings and is located in the area John's wife, Helen, was born and raised. The relationship between artist and gallery was presumably established during John and Helen's regular visits to Helen's family. The owner has always believed that "Yon Highland Lass" is a portrait of Helen Bellany as a young woman.
