Yashica Mat-124 (+ original slide Apollo 17 launch) made by Piet Smolders
With this Yashica Mat-124, the launch of the last Apollo flight to the moon was captured on 6x6 slide film. This launch, Apollo -17 on December 7, 1972, was the only one that took place at night. An original slide, made with this camera, is part of this offer. The camera was used in the 1970s and 1980s by Dutch aerospace journalist Piet Smolders, including at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, as the attached photo shows. The commander of Apollo-17, the American astronaut Eugene Cernan, spoke with Piet Smolders in Salt Lake City in 1994 (see photo) .
