Yemeni necklace mounted on silver and white metal rope alternating metallic beads and cylindrical beads of gum-resin imitating red amber. The metal beads are made up of two half-spheres in repoussé joined by twisted filigree and plant or diamond-shaped appliques. The ends are spindles made of rolled and filigree leaves and a chain with round links. The red gum-resin beads have a beautiful patina showing an ancient character and a wear that can only be produced by normal long-term wear. This is what makes the beauty of ethnic jewelry and shows an interaction with the Western amber imitation productions of the 19th century. This necklace was given by the husband on his wedding day to his wife.
