Yoroi - Lacquered metal - Samurai - Black lacquered suit-of-armour zunarikabuto-helmet, with a rare wooden flute maedate - Japan - Edo Period (1600-1868)

Black lacquered suit-of-armour (yoroi) with indigo-blue cords and a two part cuirass (kon’ito kuro’urushinuri hotokedō gusoku) . Black zunarikabuto-helmet, in front a wooden flute maedate partly wrapped with gilded metal wire. The helmet has four neck guards (shikoro) . A black facial mask covering the chin (tsubakurobō) with a three-piece gorget (nodowa) . The shoulders are covered by small six-piece sode. Japanese mail and gilded gourd pieces and gilded handshoes over black brocate protect the arms (fukubekote) . The two-piece black plate cuirass (hotokedō) has in front a gold makie-lacquer crest consisting of three ichimegasa-hats (sangaigasa mon) and at the back hooks for a banner. Hats are also depicted at the hems of the sode and at the front parts of the kusazuri. From the cuirass hangs a skirt of six five-piece kusazuri. Large haidate with gilded metal karuta-plates nailed together protect the upper legs. Gilded vertical metal strips protect the lover legs (shinosuneate) . In a black chest for a suit-of-armour (yoroibitsu) . Edo Period. Height including stand: approx. 170 cm. When shipping we will add a certificate of authenticity.
