Condition Report:
The panel consists of a single plank that is flat, stable, and beveled all around the reverse, and set into a rectangular panel that is part of the framing device. The image reads very well beneath clear, crisp varnish with no retouching or repairs visible to the naked eye. Small dots of frame abrasion are visible at the top curved edge but are not distracting. Under UV inspection, retouching is visible throughout the dark areas of the background in the center above the figure and in the lower right corner, with a few spots scattered on the still life elements like the bowl and on the shadow of the goldfinch feeder. The restoration has been well applied and the painting should hang in its present state. Offered in a simply carved ebonized wood frame with ebonized wood and gilt inner liner.
